The first Hand Rehabilitation Course for Occupational Therapists to Be Held

Dr. Maryam Farzad, a faculty member at the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences (USWR), stated in an interview with the university's news portal that the Ministry of Health has approved the first Hand Rehabilitation Course for Occupational Therapists and will be conducted in collaboration with USWR and the Iranian Society of Hand Surgeons.

 

This course is planned to be held twice a year, with each session lasting four months and accommodating 25 participants.USWR faculty member mentioned that the course includes 1,700 hours of practical work, with 35 instructors participating in the training. The instructors will include renowned hand surgeons from the country such as Dr. Lahiji, Dr. Layeghi, Dr. Masoud Yavari, Dr. Shahriar Kamrani, and other esteemed professors.

She added that this course will cover specialized techniques and hand occupational therapy methods, featuring theoretical and practical discussions on foundational knowledge and therapeutic skills. Additionally, skill workshops will be conducted on splint-making, assessment, and treatment of hand diseases and disorders.

Dr. Farzad continued that five prominent international hand therapy instructors will also teach online in this course. Participants will become familiar with evidence-based skills and research methods for systematic review articles.

Participants will receive an official certificate from the Ministry of Health and USWR. The sponsor of this course is Orfit, which will provide the necessary materials for splint fabrication.
