Rehabilitative Audiology

Our audiology department also provides Audiological rehabilitation. Audiological rehabilitation is the process of providing training and treatment to improve hearing for those who are hearing impaired and designing vestibular rehabilitation programs for imbalanced individuals. These services focus on adjusting to hearing loss, making the best use of hearing aids, exploring assistive devices, managing tinnitus, vertigo, and central auditory processing disorders.

Audiovestibular rehabilitation services available at audiology department of social welfare and rehabilitation Sciences University include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluation, selection, fitting and dispensing of hearing aids, cochlear implant, and assistive listening devices, hearing aid reassessments and counseling.
• Audiological rehabilitation programs, including peripheral and central-based auditory training, communication strategies training, Learning disabilities training and monitoring the management procedures.
• Evaluation, consultation, and providing vestibular and balance rehabilitation therapy for individuals with vestibular and balance disorders.
• Evaluation, consultation, and providing audiological tinnitus treatment/management such as Tinnitus therapy devices or cognitive-behavioral training.
• Audiological consultation for parents, caregivers, schools and other educational settings, and recommendations for improving listing conditions and suggesting appropriate amplification systems for classrooms and environments particularly for children with hearing loss and/or central auditory dysfunctions.
• Consultation to families who have children who are deaf/hard of hearing and making them familiar to individual, social, educational and occupational consequences of hearing loss and other auditory dysfunction.
